Job Description

Position Purpose/Summary: The Carrier Sales Representative finds companies to physically move freight for clients. Relationships are built and developed while negotiating competitive carrier rates to maintain the Company’s revenue and margin goals. They also follow through with transactions to ensure that freight is moved and delivered on time, meeting but preferably exceeding, client’s expectations. This may include determining solutions that are cost effective for the client but achieves revenue goals for the Company.

Position Responsibilities - Tasks - Deliverables

All duties as assigned and the following specific activities:

• Create and manage your individual portfolio of accounts while working with a team.

• Sources and procures carrier services using negotiation on the spot or transactional basis keeping mind individual, team, and company revenue margin results.

• Maintain high sales percentage margin to support financial goals of the organization.

• Generate business through inside and outside sales by way of industry referrals, prospecting, and business-to-business selling.

• Address concerns and implement solutions for both established and prospective customers.

• Follows through on shipment activity and provides appropriate timely resolution as necessary, informs appropriate personnel.

• Upholds organizations exceptional commitment to account service.

• Demonstrates a positive and collaborative attitude when interacting with others.

• Meets or exceeds assigned revenue and account goals.

• Creates a perpetual pipeline of current and potential business contacts.

• Aligns with others, inside and outside, to successful establish proper rapport and service levels for account deliverables.

• Excels at building business relationships’ internal and external to the organization

Job Requirements

Knowledge - Skills - Abilities - Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or related experience preferred

Experience of at least 1 year of the following:

• Desire to learn and participate in a fast-paced, high energy workplace.

• Requires a self-driven, competitive nature

• Problem solving is essential competency

• Propensity to analyze and arrive at understanding of data including rates, client activity, and work attention

• Keen attention to detail

• Confident decision-making actions

• Negotiation skills

• Prior account management or inside sales expertise helpful

Technology/Software (years):

• Contemporary computer savviness relating to data entry and maintenance, research, and analytics

• Preferred experience at an above average level with MS Office: Word and Excel in particular.

Strength (lifting, dexterity, repetitive motion):

• Extended time periods in sitting position, in front of computer, on phone using repetitive actions of arms and hands

• Frequent sitting

Hearing (loud noise tolerance, quiet work area, public speaking, receive work direction):

• Required to hear others verbal information

• Able to see information as it is provided in variety of formats

• Will need to work using a computer screen for extended time periods
