PROJECT MANAGER – Scaffold (Trevose, PA)

My client is one of the largest Construction firms in the country and has recently procured a large contract with an O&G client.  Due to internal promotions from this employee-focused company, they have an immediate opening for a Project Manager - Scaffold in Trevose, PA.

The Project Manager Scaffold will have complete responsibility for ensuring that all requirements and work activities performed under the Contract are performed safely, cost-effectively and with the proper quality. This position must ensure that adequate resources are available to conduct the work and produce the expected results in the proper time frame. One Project Manager may be accountable for 2-10 separate contracts, depending upon size and complexity. In each case, a level of involvement required to ensure proper management of the contract will be expected. In addition, this position should be available for scheduled meetings and accessible on short-notice for resolution of problems. Previous experience managing work in a Union Environment required.  The Project Manager is defined as a person possessing all of the qualifications of a Senior Scaffold Estimator, and will also be able to complete the Essential Functions described below: 

  • Participate in the planning and formulation of design alternatives and solutions for major projects; provide conceptual estimates, feasibility studies, and cost estimates; coordinate the production of basic design plans.

  • Develop and administer project budgets and fiscal controls, contracts, and quality control provisions; perform project cost estimating and value engineering as appropriate.

  • Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists.

  • Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work; preparing bids; selecting vendors or subcontractors; and determining cost effectiveness.

  • Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions.

  • Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.

  • Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates.

  • Prepare Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules; and be able to prepare and assemble information in the format required by the contract. Examples include estimates; reports and schedules.

  • Oversee all aspects of the day-to-day management of 2-10 projects; monitor and coordinate work performed by engineering, supervision, vendors, and regulators.

  • Ensure that project operations comply with design specifications.

  • Authorize the issuance of contracts, purchase orders, and change orders, and approve contractor invoices for payment.

  • Work with Superintendent, Site Managers, and/or Construction Managers to address variances from estimates.

  • Maintain productive relationship with customers.

  • Develop estimates and execute turnarounds or other small projects in support of a larger customer relationship.

  • Use knowledge of maintenance products (coatings and linings products, scaffolding, insulation materials, etc.) to schedule and manage production, potential problems, curing, and inspection requirements.

  • Research and prepare various reports pertaining to operations, equipment, policies, procedures, and other issues or senior management and customers.

Job Requirements

  • College degree (preferred) or at least 7 years direct field industry experience

  • Strong computer skills and proficient in excel, word, outlook, and access

  • Craft knowledge in insulation (scaffold/paint also preferred)

  • Experience/Knowledge with MIKE (Mechanical Insulation Key Estimator) software preferred

  • Knowledge of current materials, methods, and the tools involved in Industrial & Commercial construction

  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective safety operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions

  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

  • Possesses great time management skills

  • Self-Sufficient

  • Familiar with Accounting/Billing process

  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skill
