DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inspect the following equipment for proper set up and shut down:
Slicer program on Webber and Berkel Slicer Equipment
Peeler equipment
Delinker Equipment
Scales
Daily safety device checks for proper guarding, conveyors, bands, and air lines.
Lubricate slicer bed and entry guides from time to time to eliminate excessive friction
Assure that the correct product was brought to the line and unload product that is brought to the line, dock ends off product.
Strip logs prior to slicing lunchmeat.
Manually deliver racks and wheelies from cooler to line.
Maintain stacks’ integrity and weight control as indicated by machine operator and Giveaway Control Procedure and make necessary adjustments on the MCS conveyor system and slicer
Ensure that all paperwork associated with the operation is filled out correctly and on time
Notify Packaging Machine Operator immediately of any problems that may occur with product, people or equipment
Correct issues as identified by other general laborers.
Maintain a constant flow of product.
Assist in salvaging rework by reconditioning light and overweight packages generated by rejects systems or packing machines
Minimize machine downtime by assisting with timely film changes, zipper changes, and maintenance issues
Visually inspect the meat for quality and placement as it passes on the conveyor and is fed into film cavities
Assist machine operator as necessary
Relieve confirmation person as needed
Constantly remain in contact with machine operator
Ensure proper shut down:
Meat has been completely run through slicer
Slicer has been powered off and prepared for sanitation
Perform other duties as requested
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to read/write English and understand documentation, on paper or in an electronic medium
Basic math skills & use of calculator
Ability to pass the basic slicer operator test before awarded the position
Good verbal, computer and communication skills
Ability to work with minimal direct supervision
Good hand and eye coordination
Attendance at 3.00 points or above
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Standing and or walking 100% of an eight (8) hour day
Lifting and squatting 20% of an eight (8) hour day
Lifting, pushing, pull and carrying up to 60 lbs 100% of an eight (8) hour day
Bending, pulling, pushing, twisting, turning, and reaching 90% of an eight (8) hour day
Working in a cold environment of 35 degrees Fahrenheit 100% of scheduled shift
